Data Coalition Endorses New, Bipartisan Resolution to Improve the Legislative Process

Representatives Derek Kilmer (D-WA), William Timmons (R-SC), and Dean Phillips (D-MN) re-introduced a resolution (H.Con.Res.49) to establish a Commission on Evidence-Based Policymaking that would convene experts to review, analyze and make recommendations to Congress on how to better incorporate federal data and evidence-based policymaking in the legislative process.

Congress Authorizes Establishment of National Secure Data Service to Improve Data Analytics

Congress passed the CHIPS and Science Act of 2022 (CHIPS+), which will establish a National Secure Data Service (NSDS). The CHIPS+ Act includes a provision to establish the NSDS demonstration project at the National Science Foundation. The NSDS has been a long-standing legislative priority of the Data Coalition Initiative, an organization that advocates for responsible policies to make government data high-quality, accessible, and usable.
