Eager for AI: A Briefing on Prioritizing Data Readiness in Government

Recording

Overview

Artificial Intelligence (AI)  has garnered much attention in recent months, including across the federal government. Executive orders and guidance over the past two Administrations and new laws at the national level signal bipartisan interest in responsibly developing and adopting AI technology. At the national level using AI can also ensure a competitive advantage along with a host of other benefits, but implementation should be mindful of strategies that prioritize AI ethics and accountability.

The Data Foundation released “Eager for AI: Data Needs to Ensure Artificial Intelligence Readiness in the Federal Government,” a brief developed in collaboration with the Data Coalition's Artificial Intelligence (AI) Task Force. The brief is a resource for policymakers and advocates interested in AI oversight or funding needs, agencies looking to begin developing and implementing AI plans, or industry groups looking for ways to support the government.

Attendees joined members of the Data Coalition’s AI Task Force for a discussion of the brief and its recommendations for government agencies to prepare for AI.
